What is a bedside crib?
A bedside crib, also referred as a bassinet, or co-sleeper is a crib for babies that is attached to your adult bed. This allows your baby to sleep with you in a safe environment. This is a form of safe co-sleeping that does not increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) like bedsharing, and can help you bond with your newborn.
They have an end that can be adjusted so that you can reach your baby easily at night to comfort and feed them. This is especially helpful for mothers who are recovering from a c-section. Many of them are foldable or portable which means you can use them for travel and as an interim solution for babies who aren't quite ready to transition into a crib that is large enough.

If you're looking for a long-term option, some cribs have conversion kits that allow you to convert them into a cot, or a toddler bed at the time of need. This is great for extending their life and making the transition smoother. Some models have a removable portion at the top that can be turned into an infant bed. Some can be used with either a regular adult bed or a high-rise one. This is a great option for families who plan on frequently traveling or switching between bedrooms throughout the night. Many cribs have an incline that can be used to create an incline to accommodate babies with reflux.

Anna found the CoZee to be a safe and cozy sleeping place for her baby. She liked that it didn't move like other models, which meant she didn't wake up at night while trying to comfort her child during feedings. She also loved the fact that the side could be lowered so she didn't need to reach over her partner to lift the baby for night time feeds.
The CoZee is available in charcoal or oak and is a chic accessory to any bedroom. It's more modern than the other cribs we've tested, which are often quite utilitarian. The only things you'll have to purchase are a waterproof sheet and a safety strap for co-sleeping. The Maxi-Cosi lora
The Iora is a bedside bassinet that helps parents feel connected to their infant while they sleep. It can be adjusted both up and down, and moved through three different slide positions to be placed beside the bed of the parent or in the corner, to ensure that the infant is always at hand. The mesh siding lets air circulate through, allowing you to see your baby easily. And you can store more pajamas and other supplies in the large storage basket under.
As opposed to other bedside crib options Iora is a standout among other bedside cribs. Iora can be folded flat and comes with a travel bag which allows it to be taken wherever. It was easy to move around from room to room, and our mom testers thought it was the perfect size for a bedside crib. The large storage basket is perfect to store extra bedding or nappies.
This is an excellent choice for parents who want to co-sleep, but don't want to share their own beds or whose partners may have mobility issues, like arthritis or back issues. Our mums who tested it loved the ease with which they could access their baby while in the Iora and that it had an optional reflux incline that helped reduce gas.
Our mums appreciate the fact that it meets NICE guidelines that state to put the infant in a crib or Moses basket on its own (with no blankets, toys, pillows, etc). The mattress is also firm and comfortable for the baby, and sheets are easy to find. It's not as light as some of the smaller cribs on our list, so if prefer something lighter and easier to move, you can choose another alternative.
